Abstract
In 1969, the USSR intensified its search for the «weakest link» in the Western defense system that ensued from the «Post-Prague» developments in the international relations. Greece was one of the «nominees». In this regard, the Soviet military intelligence, Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) was involved in gathering information on the domestic affairs in Greece, which was a member of the NATO and occupied an important place in the south-western direction of the Warsaw Treaty Organization possible activities.
